IT'S A BOATERS LIFE FOR ME

Boating is without a doubt on the top of the list for many South Africans, BUT equally it can be a very daunting task when going out to purchase your very first boat. With all the options on the table, it can become very confusing at times but luckily at all Suzuki Marine Dealerships nationwide, the dealers will run you through everything, take you for some demos to make sure you purchase the boat that suites you and what you plan to do with it.

Here are some of the possible questions you might want answered:

How do I buy a boat?

Most banks and all Suzuki Marine Dealerships offer finance options, you would need to also make sure you get suitable insurance for the vessel.

I have never driven a boat?

Driving a boat is much easier than driving a car or motorcycle and will take you less than an hour to get the hang of it with the assistance of the Dealers. Naturally the size of the vessel will also determine this learning process.

Do I need a licence?

Yes, a theoretical course and practical test are required to obtain your skippers licence. Depending on the application, you would need to factor in a freshwater inland licence vs the ocean going restrictions which range up to 40nm offshore.

I am a little scared of water and can’t swim?

Safety is always the top priority for any boating activity. Life vests, flares and various other emergency items are required when owning a boat. If you are not a good swimmer or cannot swim at all it is recommended to bring this to the attention of both the Suzuki Marine dealer and your Skipper Licence course instructor.

What are the maintenance protocols of a boat?

It is highly recommended to always abide by the Suzuki Marine dealers service intervals to ensure your outboard motors warranty stays in effect.

Treat your boat as you would treat your home, keep it clean, keep all terminals greased and keep it covered.
