Valentines Day

It’s the romance silly season, stores are filled with red roses, cuddly teddy bears, and heart-shaped chocolates.

Why not change things up this year and make this Valentine's day one to remember? Here are our tips when planning the perfect Valentine's day on the water.

Choose the location

Whether you decide to take a slow cruise on the river, on the estuary, in the harbour or out to sea, it is important to distinguish this trip from a regular outing by adding an edge. Since the objective is to spend quality time together, it would be advised to choose a tranquil setting and calm waters.

Mood matters

A boat is no place for candlelight but the backdrop of nature should supply just the romantic setting you require. Alternatively, battery operated lanterns can also assist in creating a romantic mood onboard your boat.

You can either rely on the natural romantic sounds of nature or soft background music provided by your boat’s sound system or a portable speaker.

Good taste

Having a snack together can be one of the most romantic gestures there is, especially as food is a thing that brings family and partners together every day. You may be limited with the extend of the meal served onboard your vessel but, this does not mean that it can’t be special.

You can assemble a platter that touches all four corners of a good meal. You can have a spike, a carrier, a comfort and crunch element which will satisfy without having to provide an extensive meal.

Caught in time

Studies show that couples spend on average of 2 to 2.5 half hours together per day. So much more reason to take advantage of this memorable moment, because as we all know, memorable moments fly by at a blink of an eye. Therefore, plan ahead, arrange a caretaker for the kids, head out on the water early enough so you have some good time on the water before having to head back to the shore.

Happy planning… we wish you the ultimate Valentine’s day.
