10 Boating Hacks for the New Year

Summer is in full swing and lots of time is being spent on the water. Here are some easy boating hacks using household items to save you time and money and make your boating experience more convenient.

  • Before towing your boat, wipe it down with Sunlight liquid. This will make it easy for you to remove bugs and dirt when reaching your holiday destination.

  • Have some mold on the boat or even the smell of mold? White vinegar is your friend to remove mold effortlessly. This is also a green alternative to cleaning materials and chemicals.

  • Did you know that oven cleaners or lemon essential oils remove stains and adhesive residue from the gel coat?

  • Have a fishy smell on your hands? Rubbing your wet hands on the stainless steel bars on your boat will remove the fishy smell along with the smell of many other odors.

  • Flip flops flying around the deck? Simply stick them into the bungy cord used to hold the cooler box. Alternatively, a bungy cord can be tied on the boat to create a designated flip-flop area.

  • Rubbing down your boat windshield wipers with rubbing alcohol will prevent them from smearing.

  • Boat ropes that are stiffened with age and from lying in the sun, can be softened up with fabric softener. Simply soak the rope in water with fabric softener, then let it dry indoors, this will make the ropes flexible again.

  • Darker or multicolored towels dry quicker than light-colored or white towels on the boat making them ready for re-use quicker.

  • Keeping a wet towel under the cooler box on the boat will prevent it from sliding all over the deck.

  • Magic Eraser is perfect for removing sticky spills from your vinyl seats by simply gently rubbing it.

Sometimes the small things can make a big difference, we hope you will find these hacks useful in making your boating lifestyle more convenient!
