This contribution forms part of Suzuki Marine’s ongoing commitment to protecting South Africa’s marine ecosystems and empowering the next generation of ocean stewards.
About “Defenders of the Blue”
The Defenders of the Blue programme engages children from under-resourced communities across the Cape Metropole in immersive, ocean-based learning experiences. Through activities like rock pool snorkeling, beach clean-ups, and citizen science workshops, learners are introduced to the wonders of coastal ecology and the importance of protecting our oceans from pollution and litter.
The programme also offers development opportunities such as free diving training and metacognition learning, helping learners build resilience, self-awareness, and long-term interest in environmental sciences.
