Suzuki Marine South Africa was delighted to receive the positive feedback from the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation on the support in their Oceans in Motion project .
The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation proudly announced the successful outreach of its Oceans in Motion program, which was made possible by the generous sponsorship of R36,000 from Suzuki Marine South Africa. In September 2023, the Oceans in Motion van visited 750 school learners in grades 4 to 6 across the greater Cape Town area, providing an invaluable educational experience at a cost of R48 per learner.
The Oceans in Motion van, easily identifiable with its vibrant artwork and solar panels, is equipped with a unique life support system. This innovation allows the foundation to bring the ocean and its wonders to schools that may be far from the coast.
During the engaging lessons, students had the opportunity to interact with live marine creatures, including sea stars, sea urchins, and sea anemones. Teacher Thabo conducted skillful, curriculum-aligned lessons that emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and the critical role humans play in protecting marine ecosystems. The impact of these lessons was profound, leaving a lasting impression on both the enthusiastic learners and their teachers.
The total number of learners reached during this initiative was 750, underscoring the significant impact of the program.
The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation extended its heartfelt gratitude to Suzuki Marine South Africa for their invaluable support, which made this transformative educational experience possible. Together, they are inspiring the next generation to cherish and protect our oceans.
