During the winter season weather does not always permit for boating and boaters often use this period to get their boats and outboards serviced, however if your outboard has been serviced recently it is important to make sure that it is stored correctly so that it is ready for the summer season.

During the winter season weather does not always permit for boating and boaters often use this period to get their boats and outboards serviced, however if your outboard has been serviced recently it is important to make sure that it is stored correctly so that it is ready for the summer season.

The position in which your outboard is stored is important. The best way to store your outboard is to either leave it on the boat or in an upright position on an engine stand, not tilted.

Never store an outboard with the gearbox higher than the powerhead as water in the exhaust passages may run into the cylinders causing damage to your outboard.

Should you consider taking your outboard of your boat pay careful attention to mounting hardware that you loosen and take off the installed outboard. This will avoid difficulties fitting the outboard again.

Inspect your fitting hardware, should there be any impairments, contact your closest Suzuki Dealer for assistance.

Cover your outboard with an outboard cover or material carefully draped to avoid excess dust or insects that may block cooling holes or other openings on your outboard.

Fuel tends to break down during long periods of storage and transforms into a gummy liquid that may clog the carburettor and fuel lines.

To insure that the fuel that may still be left in your outboards system is free of water, and other impurities you can use a fuel conditioner recommended by your authorized Suzuki Dealer.

To prevent condensation in oil tank during storage, you should drain and refill your gearbox completely with fresh oil. It is also advised to lubricate all shift and throttle links.

Remember to clean your batteries and to store them in a cool and dry place.

When the temperatures rise and Spring is in the air, your outboard will be waiting for you ready to go!
